Apple is finally ready to roll out its latest firmware update to the public. iOS 7.1 is now available as a free download, and as expected, it adds a (coulpe) few new features to the juice.

The new update should be heading your direction if you own an iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S or iPad 2 and above ( iPad 4,  iPad 3, iPad Air), either iPad mini or a fifth-generation iPod touch. Among the usual smattering of tweaks to the iOS UI and bug fixes, but one of the most notable feature improvement is the inclusion of CarPlay support and fixes for the random reboot problem many iOS 7 users have been experiencing.

The biggest change to iOS with the new update is support for Apple's CarPlay feature (Previously known as "iOS in the Car,"), which brings iOS integration to your in-dash stereo and provides you with the ability to interact with Siri, access your music library and third-party audio apps, navigate routes using Maps, answer calls and send texts hands-free.

Apple unveils updated chart on the adoption of its various operating systems. At the end of January, the milestone of 80% OS share was achieved for iOS 7. It continues to grow over the weeks. Thus, 8/10 iPhone, iPad or iPod touch are runing on iOS 7. 17% of them remain on iOS 6 and 3% on an earlier version.

Apple began broadcasting data adoption in early December. At this time, iOS 7 was installed on 74 % of iDevices with all versions. The increase is 6 points in almost two months. I must say that the holidays with Christmas have somewhat helped to increase the OS share, as the jailbreak - although it does not represent much in the end.

The growth should continue over the next few weeks. About the mentioned iOS 7 update, Apple is expected to release an update soon to fix various crashes encountered on the home screen (Apple promises an update to fix iOS 7 crashes). We do not yet know if it will be named iOS 7.0.5 or iOS 7.1. Stay tuned!

As expected, Apple offers to download the fourth beta of iOS 7.1. The update is only available to developers for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

The novelty is not yet known, we have until the evening to get more info. Earlier in the day, BGR reported that it'll be included several bug fixes related to the keyboard, with the Contacts application and some changes in the interface (including some in the phone application). We'll have to install it to be sure.

Make sure to check us out again to get all the information about the Beta 4 of iOS 7.1 or head to our link source to get everything you need.

After making a point on Android's 4.4 Kitkat share with 1.1 percent, it's time to see how the contender is dealing on his turf.

Apple has revealed that 74 percent of recent App Store customers are using iOS 7. That's a healthy 10-point improvement over what we saw in October, when 64% were running Cupertino's newest OS platform. The differences in OS adoption rates aren't totally surprising, mind you. Apple is targeting a narrower pool of hardware, doesn't have to wait for third-party approvals and recently launched two new iPads that could easily boost iOS 7 adoption.

Android by its nature targets a wider range of devices and software interfaces that won't always receive updates at the same time. We wouldn't expect a big spike in KitKat use until larger phone makers like HTC and Samsung throw their full weight behind Google's latest platform.

After a few small updates to solve "serious" iOS 7 issues, Apple is preparing the first major update to its latest mobile OS: iOS 7.1, by giving developers the first beta version of its OS.

At the moment the big update is not that important in reality, since it merely has a few bug fixes. We note a significant correcting a concern, which had the effect of abnormal consumption of data and resources on certain applications.

The update is compatible with all devices that support iOS 7. The iOS 7.1 beta is available to developers beginning immediately for all compatible iOS devices including the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPad Air, third- and fourth-generation iPads, iPad 2, iPad mini with Retina display, iPad mini and the fifth-generation iPod touch.

UPDATE: Here's Apple’s full iOS 7.1 release notes:

Notes and Known Issues

The following issues relate to using iOS SDK 7.1 to develop code.

Bluetooth
Known Issue

32-bit apps running on a 64-bit device cannot attach to BTServer.

CFNetwork
Fixed in iOS 7.1 beta

Previously, if the server-side closed an HTTP request with TCP FIN without sending any bytes of HTTP header or HTTP body, NSURLConnection would synthesize an empty HTTP/1.1 200 OK response. This is now fixed, and the request will result in an error instead of a successful load with a synthesized response.

Notes

A new compatibility behavior has been added to address an issue where some web servers would send the wrong Content-Length value for “Content-Encoding: gzip” content. Previously, NSURLConnection and NSURLSession would send a “network connection was lost” / NSURLErrorNetworkConnectionLost (-1005) error in this situation.

The compatibility behavior applies only if the Content-Length value exactly matches the expanded gzip’d content. It won’t apply for “off by 1” or similar miscounting.

Core Text
Fixed in iOS 7.1 beta

Previously, text drawn with CTFrameDraw did not correctly place lines to account for the paragraphSpacing attribute of NSParagraphStyle. This has been addressed in iOS 7.1 beta.

Crash Logs
Known Issue

Crash logs will not appear in Diagnostics & Usage Data in Settings. The logs will still be available when synced off the device.

GLKit
Fixed in iOS 7.1 beta

If loaded with GLKTextureLoader, pngcrush images that have alpha were not unpremultiplied.

High Precision Timers
Fixed in iOS 7.1 beta

When sleeping or waiting for extremely precise time intervals, timers were delayed by up to 1 millisecond.

iTunes
Known Issue

Loading an iTunes Match library (or your purchased music history) may take much longer than expected, especially on larger libraries. If your library does not sync right away, please wait 30 minutes and try to access it again.

Multipeer Connectivity
Fixed in iOS 7.1 beta

The MCSessioninitWithPeer: method has now been implemented properly.

For more information on MCSession APIs, watch WWDC 2013: Nearby Networking with Multipeer Connectivity.

After weeks and weeks of waiting, here comes the Google Play Music app on iOS ( App Store Link - Free - iPhone). The service is to b as a rival for iTunes somehow although several points differ between the two.

Google Play Music includes both the Play Music and Music Unlimited Play function. The first allows you to upload up to 20,000 songs from its online library to listen on the go. You connects to your account from a computer, smartphone or tablet (Android for now) and you're good to go to listen to fav music, no matter where you are. The service is offered for free, a good place for users. A Radio service is also part of the lot. It is possible to customize the stations according to the artists, albums and favorite songs.

With this, Google integrates Play Music Acces Unlimited which is simply an equivalent of Spotify or Deezer. For 9.99 € / month, you have access to a large catalog of music that you can listen from any platform. Everything is connected to your Google Account. It is possible to change the sound quality (low, medium, high). The more the quality is good, the more data conception will be important. Attention to quotas imposed by the operators. It is also possible to listen to local (download music on the iPhone) to avoid consuming the package exactly. This service is especially useful for those times when the airplane mode must be enabled. Google offers 30-day trial to get an idea.

For now, Google does only offer an iPhone version of its music app. The U.S. giant has already announced (to 9to5Mac) that an iPad version was in preparation. No availability date yet.

Another security update for iOS 7 is being prepared if we believes the data. MacRumors reports that many devices with firmware iOS 7.0.4 seriously start to connect. iPhones or iPad in question come from Apple networks in Cupertino (a simple check of the IP) directly. The number starts to climb increasingly suggesting a future release. The first connections were held there two weeks ago.

For now, we do not know the release date of iOS 7.0.4 . 9to5Mac, meanwhile, confirmed that a security update was being prepared. No beta version is available on the Dev Center for developers. This is not so surprising really. If there is no novelty, Apple will offer the update directly to the public as it has done with iOS 7.0.2 or iOS 7.0.3 for example.

Connections up to iOS 7.0.4 from Apple headquarters

Some connections from iOS 7.1 are also worth noting. However, they are not numerous. Apple still developing this update supposed to be the first major since iOS 7.0. It normally bring iOS car features which was presented by Apple in June at WWDC .
