Sony has released firmware updates for their two digital SLT cameras : the Sony A65 and the Sony A77. The updates version 1.05 adds several enhancements to both models, including faster auto review response, shortened power-off times, improved front/rear control wheel response, enhanced auto focus accuracy in high-contrast situations and improved AF speed with the new super-telephoto lens the Sony 500mm f/4 lens. Additionally, both cameras can now intelligently correct vignetting, lateral chromatic aberration and distortion for a total of 11 A-mount lenses.

Firmware update sharpens camera responses for α77 and α65 cameras by Sony

Latest firmware Version 1.05 also supports aberration/vignetting compensation for more lenses

A new firmware update further boosts operability of the α77 and α65 Translucent Mirror cameras from Sony.

Available for free download from 29 March 2012, firmware Version 1.05 adds several enhancements to both cameras. Alongside heightened responsiveness, it improves operability of both cameras with a wider choice of A-mount optics by Carl Zeiss and Sony.

Shading and aberration compensation

Both cameras can now intelligently correct vignetting, lateral chromatic aberration and distortion for a total of 11 A-mount lenses, including a further six models that are now supported:

Improved responses

Operability of both cameras is further improved with a number of refinements that facilitate smoother, faster handling.

Auto review responses are now quicker, without a 'processing' message being displayed
Time between power switch operation and power off has been shortened
Front/rear dial responses are improved

Autofocus responses and precision

Autofocus accuracy is now improved when focusing on scenes with wide contrast difference between objects (applies to SLT-A77 only). In addition, AF speed is improved when using both cameras with the recently-announced SAL500F40G 500mm F4 G SSM super-telephoto lens by Sony. You'll be able to focus faster on athletes, wildlife and other distant subjects with this bright, high-magnification lens that is available exclusively to order.

Lors du dernier MWC « Mobile World Congress » LG  a réussi a faire une démonstration de la première conversion voice-to-video (voix à vidéo) au monde sur un réseau LTE. La démonstration, qui à été basé sur une technologie propriétaire de LG, a permis aux utilisateurs de basculer sur un mode de communication en haute qualité audio et vidéo pendant une conversation téléphonique.

Le processus de conversion voice-to-video LTE d’LG, adhère à l’IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Profile for Conversational Video Service, la norme établie pour l’industrie par GSMA pour régir la prestation des données vidéo et voix sur le réseaux LTE.

Lors du Mobile World Congress 2012 qui ce tenue à Barcelone, LG à déclarer qu’il lancera un smartphone “LTE-capable” en conformité avec le Conversational Video Service plus tard cette année.

LG's LTE Technology Enables Seamless Switching Between Voice and Video During Phone Conversations

BARCELONA, Feb. 28, 2012 –- LG Electronics (LG) successfully demonstrated the world's first voice-to-video conversion over a LTE network at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012. The demonstration, which was based on LG's proprietary technology, enabled users to switch back and forth between high quality voice and high resolution video call modes during an ongoing telephone conversation. Also demonstrated was a video sharing service, which enables real-time sharing of videos over a LTE network, as they are being recorded.

LG's LTE voice-to-video conversion process adheres to the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Profile for Conversational Video Service, the industry standard established by the GSMA to govern the delivery of both video and voice data over LTE. LG will launch LTE-capable smartphones compliant with Conversational Video Service later this year.

"LG will continue to lead in LTE by developing and introducing innovations that consumers can actually experience and benefit from," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "The LTE sector is advancing at light speed and our voice-to-video conversion technology is in the best position to be adopted industry-wide."

At last year's MWC, LG successfully demonstrated Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and video calls. Prior to the introduction of LTE technology, high definition video calls on smartphones were not possible, as 3G networks were unable to handle the volume of data at the speeds required for high quality video images.

That number comes from Microsoft's Building Windows Twitter account, of course, it's important to note that the number doesn't necessarily mean one million individuals downloaded Windows 8 Consumer Preview. but rather than that it's a quite good performance in one day.
