The sportswear giant - Nike is reportedly lays off its hardware division, responsible for wearable devices such as the FuelBand. For those not aware, the FuelBand was a popular fitness device worn around your wrist that tracked your daily activities with Nike’s mobile and desktop software.

According to CNET who broke the news, about 55 of the 70 people hardware team were laid off. Along with the FuelBand, the hardware division was also responsible for products such as the Nike+ SportWatch.

The FuelBand was launched back in 2012 and received a minor update last year. It was to receive another update this year before the entire project was canned. According to Nike, “As a fast-paced, global business we continually align resources with business priorities. As our Digital Sport priorities evolve, we expect to make changes within the team, and there will be a small number of layoffs.” However, according to a post on the social network Secret, someone said “The douchebag execs at Nike are going to lay off a bunch of the eng team who developed the FuelBand, and other Nike+ stuff. Mostly because the execs committed gross negligence, wasted tons of money, and didn’t know what they were doing.”

There may be a chance that Nike cancelling the FuelBand is in preparation of the upcoming Apple wearable device. For those not aware, Tim Cook is also a member of the Nike board. The FuelBand was an iOS-exclusive device as well and would have thus competed directly against whatever Apple would be announcing. Lastly, Nike has said that it will concentrate on making software for fitness devices, so you can bet it would work with the Apple device.

Of course, this is all speculation at this point but for now, the FuelBand is dead.

Microsoft finally announced the Office suite of apps for the iPad (Rumors have been circulating for years that Microsoft was working on a version of Office for the iPad), including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. But along with the new announcement, Microsoft also made a quiet change to its existing Android app.

Just like its iPhone counterparts ( for iPhone version, these apps are free to download, and you can view documents/give presentations without a paid subscription) but, you'll need to sign in with a OneDrive or SharePoint account to retrieve your documents, or else have your stuff stored on the iPad itself. However, if you ever want to edit a doc or create something from scratch, you'll need an Office 365 subscription (you can even use Microsoft's cheaper Office 365 Personal plan when it launches later this spring). If you like, you can also sign up for a 30-day trial at Office.com.

Once that expires, though, you'll need to pony up, at which point Office for iPad will count toward a new five-tablet limit -- not your five PC/Mac limit. As you may have gathered by now, this is all par for the course for Microsoft, though it's worth pointing out that Apple offers its iWork suite for free on iOS devices purchased on or after September 1st, 2013. And it's a fairly feature-rich suite, too.

As a reminder, Microsoft has dropped the paid subscription requirement on iPhone, which means you can access the app fully without having to spend a dime. Also, there isn’t really a version optimized for Android tablets yet. Still, it’s a free app so you can’t complain much about it.

Apple has released the latest update version of its mobile operating system, iOS 7.1. The new build for iPhones (iPhone 4 and above), iPads (iPad 2 and above) and iPod touch devices includes a number of bug fixes, visual changes and some new features such as CarPlay support. According to a new report from 9to5Mac, however, it also includes references to two unannounced iPad models that Apple plans to launch sometime in the future.

As can be seen in the screenshot above, iOS 7.1 adds support for an iPad 4,3 and an iPad 4,6, neither of which exist at this point. 9to5Mac believes that the devices may be minor updates that Apple plans to roll out at some point soon without much fanfare. This is something Apple has done in the past with minor device updates.

The report also notes that the iPad 4,1 and iPad 4,2 are Apple’s current iPad Air models and the iPad 4,4 and iPad 4,5 are Retina iPad mini tablets, so we should be looking at new additions to each class of Apple tablet in the near future.

Two weeks ago, Apple has posted the fourth beta of iOS 7.1. This version was the first to seriously address the Evasi0n7 jailbreak by blocking some flaws, including one located in kernel. The fifth beta released tonight blocks again new vulnerabilities. The hacker iH8sn0w made the announcement on his Twitter account.

Vulnerability need to make a system call, which appeared in iOS 7 has been corrected. Evasi0n7 was used to carry out the jailbreak. About afc and sandbox (protected iOS universe), again Apple has taken steps to block the different faults. The afc refuses to connect to a specific port when used as a mobile.

However iH8sn0w notes that Apple did not block 100% of the jailbreak features. When a Twitter user pointed out to Evasi0n7 is now fully patched, iH8sn0w says " Not really." It is not impossible that Apple take the necessary by the final version release.

Apple preparing iOS 8 before its presentation which will be held in June. According to 9to5Mac, the new version of Apple's operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch will be primarily directed towards health. Apple propose a new default application -code named Healthbook.

This application would be able to monitor the health and physical maintenance of the user giving it its number of steps taken, calories lost, the number of kilometers traveled and more. The application would be responsible for reviewing and also by extension to monitor the weight of the user. Apple thus falling in direct competition with Nike and its FuelBand and Fitbit. This competition is also interesting when you know that Tim Cook in person wears a "bracelet or wirstband" FuelBand around his wrist, he was seen repeatedly.

About health itself, Healthbook would focus on various users vital signs by examining blood pressure, hydration levels, heart rate and more. Apple would go even further and would be downright assistant since the user could enter its various drugs. Thus, iOS 8 remind the user to take such pills at such an hour, for example.

Apple will focus on the interface of the existing application Passbook. Each data related to the health or maintenance of the user would be placed on a virtual map.

What the iWatch got to do in this case? According to 9to5Mac, the future connected watch from Apple has just an important role in this respect. The wirstband could has the key sensors to actively manage blood pressure, heart rate and everything else. iOS 8 perfectly matches the iWatch at this level.

The release of iOS 8 should, against all odds, to be in September - if we based on the outputs of the previous versions. The iWatch, has no specific release date. 2014 had been raised. It is not impossible that this year is the right response to different revelations.

It is worth noting that the watch should not be connected as health only. However, it would be directed to this topic. It is the same thing for iOS 8.

Today must be a great day for all of you stuck on jailbreaking your devices without been sure how long does it takes before Apple find a way to broke it again, fear no more according to latest very good news, famous hacker iH8sn0w has just come out with a tweet on its Twitter account.

Here is the tweet in question: So looks like all my A5 (X) devices are fully untethered and jailbroken for life now.

The famous hacker announced that has discovered an iBoot loophole allowing jailbreak for life for devices with chips A5 and A5X.

This exploit can not be corrected by a simple update from Apple, an iBoot exploit involving a hardware fault. This would therefore require a physical update to the iDevice.

Affected devices are iPhone 4S, iPod touch 5G and iPads, 2, 3 and Mini.
